................................ ................................ STRANGEWAYS Human beings may be at the top of the evolutionary pyramid, but hardly behave as noble and enlightened masters of God’s creation. Instead as portrayed by Barrioquinto, they seem to dwell in a tragic twilight, living out wretched existences of their own devising. A keen observer of human failings, the artist paints desperate souls longing for all available representations of affection in this world… wanting to possess every woman, man or object of satisfaction, and still being discontented in the end. The show is about man’s greatest, and most insatiable desire — to love, and be loved in return. A continuation of the artist’s evolving ‘blue period’, Strangeways manifests as a despondent blend of Barrioquinto’s fractured cubism, increased shades of blue, compositional dynamism and an eeriness due to a disturbing distortion of the human face and anatomy. Infused with a greater sense of narrative and attention to background details, they tell sorrowful stories of the human condition: the mama’s boy who clings to his parent, the unwanted daughter who gets in the way of her mother’s conquests, the perversion of a national figure, the futile wait of a single man for his true love, the disturbing affection of a stepfather for his youngest daughter... Strangeways is Barrioquinto’s visual chronicle of daily events and broken characters as seen through the surreal filters of his eyes — subtle, gloomy, and somewhat ironic. .................................... .................................... click the image to see other paintings of andres barrioquinto. ............................. .............................

this was the second time that Tintero held an exhibition which is another jaw-dropping and awe-inspiring artworks with an amazing concepts in every masterpieces of the artists.
cj's and andy's work seems to be dark concepts but if you heard the meaning or got the idea how they created it you'll be amaze as i was! winner ang mga work nila!
specially yung ke jon... he share the idea of what're the concepts he build from his painting "the anatomy of waiting".
they're all great artist of this time.
meron din nga pala iba pang artist na nag visit sa gallery isa na don syempre yung magagaling tulad nila ma'am Janice Young ( hehe medyo nakakahiya nga nung time na yun kasi... basta nahihiya ako. ) the fact is i've got no idea what topic should i say to her but im lucky she recognize me. hehe ( iba talaga ang multiply! )
and other friends drop by too.. dj from the serenade orchestra... hindi sha yung tumu- tugtog sa album na ito ha.. (di ku kilala yun. peru magaling sha.)
ayun.... as usual.. this is limited to tell all the details. all the gaps and in-between this images has a story to share. but writing it down here will just make look the site uninteresting. just go over the images...enjoy viewing it.
by the way, thanks to my friends jorg and nagfroi for sharing some of their photos.
saludo!

" think out of the box "
but for the mean time we'll be putting ourselves from outside to inside. the interiors.
the Philippine School of Interior Design celebrating its forty years of excellent interior design with the theme:...
" Forty Filipino Fabuluos"
This exhibit will run till October 31 from 10am to 8am at the Paseo Center, Makati City.
I'm not ending it like this. We capture this moments to share all what we had experienced.. since one of the student, Sheanah Tse ( cousin of my friend Michelle ) invited them. ) Riding from Parañaque to Makati was exhausting ( kasi wala pa ako tulog that time ) using their "kotsi" driven by Manong whom i thought got a big crush on Abby. Hahahaha. ( matindeh ang kamandag mo sa oldies )
As we enter.. They gave us a piece of paper para bumoto ng swerteng team of designers na trip namin base on their designs syempre ) They all have great designs. Some are elegant, sophisticated, masculine, minimal and complicated. Using materials na kakaiba. Sa wall treatment lang ako na dismaya. yung iba kasi madumi as if not done perfectly. ( lampas ang pag kaka-paint..basta mga ganon )
Well i will not spoil everything to nail-down all the details what we saw in that exhibit but this photos may serve you all the adjectives that i may put to it positively. ( except for the images of my friends. They really want to be one of the accesories of the designs! Haha )
Find time at least to visit the place.
By the way, salamat sa mga panalong pose ni abby. isa kang masunuring bata! wahaha...
Saludo.
Good Day! n_n

Posted by mark david on Oct 6, '07 2:30 PM for everyone ............................................. “Ang Batang Maraming Bawal” is the winner of CANVAS’ second annual Romeo Forbes Children’s Storywriting Competition, and is a simple tale of innocent hope and imagination. Written originally in Filipino, our biggest difficulty was the title, for which we could not find any appropriate translation. Suggested English titles like “The Boy Who Couldn’t Do Much,” “The RX Kid,” “The Boy Who Couldn’t” or, what probably is the closest translation, “The Boy Who Wasn’t Allowed to Do a Lot of Things” – all couldn’t capture the spirit and humor of the original title. In the end, we chose the easiest solution, which was to simply refuse to translate the title. .............................................. .............................................. “Inay, huwag masyadong mahigpit, at baka magkapasa ako!” ............................................

........................................... ........................................... West Gallery, SM Megamall August 16 to 28, 2007 Andres Barrioquinto’s new exhibit, titled Broken, takes another page from his day-to-day personal experiences. Featuring Barrioquinto’s latest works in oil, Broken will be on view at West Gallery, SM Megamall, from August 16 to 28. Barrioquinto treats his canvas as a journal, diligently painting feelings, impressions, and encounters he cannot otherwise express as clearly with words. He notes that being an artist has an anti-social dimension to it, finding himself working alone in the studio and spontaneously trying to visually verbalize his “broken” thoughts. He does not use specific imagery as references, relying more on his imagination to depict or even exaggerate his subjects. He knows that each element in the paintings means something deeply personal and even painful. Yet he’d rather let his viewers draw their own interpretations as they view the works, and maybe they can connect to something familiar or create their own opinion. He is open to different views, as he likes it better that he talks less about his works and lets his art speak more for him. Barrioquinto thinks that his thrust as an artist has not changed. It is only that he has found more tools in which to express his idea, as if finding new musicians to work with in interpreting the same song. In a statement, Barrioquinto notes, “I’m interested in probing my own soul rather than reflecting the world of ideas, and in explaining a moody or inner world than revealing a basic harmony in the one around us. I paint images so exaggerated or distorted that they take us away from the familiar world and into one of emotion or feeling.” A fine arts graduate from the University of Santo Tomas, Barrioquinto has mounted one-man exhibits here and in Singapore. He was a recipient of the CCP Thirteen Artists Award in 2003. West Gallery is at the 4/L Building A, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City. ( inaantok na kasi ang ilan sa amin ) from saturday in the morning till the event (hehehe maybe some of us napagod na din kaya kinailangan ng pahinga nagtago na sa sulok sulok! ) but the real score is worth it lahat kahit napagod.

SMILE
i hope this will remain an inspiration to our fellow artist na tumulong sa ating mga less fortunate brother. Most of all sa mga mayayaman dyan sa paligid.
Paglubog ng araw.

story by Agay Llanera illustration by Farley del Rosario
The story of "Sol" was a finalist in CANVAS' very first storywriting competition. Agay Llanera's lyrical and enchanting prose made it easy for CANVAS to decide on the story's publication as a children's book. The only challenge left was to find the appropriate artist to bring the tale to life, and Farley del Rosario was an inspired choice.
Their collaboration in this project again validates CANVAS' effort to encourage and foster a closer connection between art and literature, and in the process, to create meaningful opportunities for our country's young, and extremely talented writers and artists.
CANVAS is very proud to present "Sol," an original story of love, music and light.

we invited six models for them to be painted and drawn. luckily the Serenade Orchestra arrived in the evening to boost the artists' creativity. "PRESSURE" hehe they didn't expect to have a lots of model all they knew is only one model. anyway they still enjoy it. without eating lunch. just a couple of cup of coffee. (sa artist ayus na yun!)
and some of my friends went there also... hahaha they enjoy the serending of the orchestra. all smooth and current! hehe
