photo taken on day 8 of our last production.
well, its my first and last to be with my group in this production.
after all, i have this feeling to give my part on this.

“Basically, [the film hopes to] open the minds of the many viewers that you can still come up with good stories that portray the real things that are happening in society… that they can see that there is something we can do even in the smallest way," Kuya Daniel said when asked what the moral of his film is.

heard this personally (if im not mistaken) what Kuya wanted to people see in this movie.

These past few days I’ve been very busy, doing stuff like things
I never done
before and still adjusting my time to make my work flow
in a systematically direction. I got some duties like communicating

with our group here and abroad, and find the Yahoo messenger very useful.

While chatting with them I didn’t notice below the monitor screen
that Ms. Louie (the art director of the Playground magazine) is actually
sending me a message that the Issue 08 were out now in the market.
(The Playground magazine is a gaming lifestyle magazine with lots of…..
sure! game contents) She was saying that I could get my complimentary
copy of the magazine at their office in Makati and showing me through
her webcam the printed copy of the magazine which I did the cover illustration.

Well I hope you guys could buy a copy of this month issue.
Sending them a message or comment about the cover illustration
and also the Spread page illustration that I made would be highly appreciated.

That’s it! I need to go back to my work mode now. Just like the saying
in the movie Meet the Robinsons:

“Keep Moving Forward!”

To those who are looking for someone to do work for free… please wake up and join the real world

Every day, there are more and more CL posts seeking “artists” for everything from auto graphics to comic books to corporate logo designs. More people are finding themselves in need of some form of illustrative service.

But what they’re NOT doing, unfortunately, is realizing how rare someone with these particular talents can be.

To those who are “seeking artists”, let me ask you; How many people do you know, personally, with the talent and skill to perform the services you need? A dozen? Five? One? …none?

More than likely, you don’t know any. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be posting on craigslist to find them.

And this is not really a surprise.

In this country, there are almost twice as many neurosurgeons as there are professional illustrators. There are eleven times as many certified mechanics. There are SEVENTY times as many people in the IT field.

So, given that they are less rare, and therefore less in demand, would it make sense to ask your mechanic to work on your car for free? Would you look him in the eye, with a straight face, and tell him that his compensation would be the ability to have his work shown to others as you drive down the street?

Would you offer a neurosurgeon the “opportunity” to add your name to his resume as payment for removing that pesky tumor? (Maybe you could offer him “a few bucks” for “materials”. What a deal!)

Would you be able to seriously even CONSIDER offering your web hosting service the chance to have people see their work, by viewing your website, as their payment for hosting you?

If you answered “yes” to ANY of the above, you’re obviously insane. If you answered “no”, then kudos to you for living in the real world.

But then tell me… why would you think it is okay to live out the same, delusional, ridiculous fantasy when seeking someone whose abilities are even less in supply than these folks?

Graphic artists, illustrators, painters, etc., are skilled tradesmen. As such, to consider them as, or deal with them as, anything less than professionals fully deserving of your respect is both insulting and a bad reflection on you as a sane, reasonable person. In short, it makes you look like a twit.

A few things you need to know;

1. It is not a “great opportunity” for an artist to have his work seen on your car/’zine/website/bedroom wall, etc. It IS a “great opportunity” for YOU to have their work there.

2. It is not clever to seek a “student” or “beginner” in an attempt to get work for free. It’s ignorant and insulting. They may be “students”, but that does not mean they don’t deserve to be paid for their hard work. You were a “student” once, too. Would you have taken that job at McDonalds with no pay, because you were learning essential job skills for the real world? Yes, your proposition it JUST as stupid.

3. The chance to have their name on something that is going to be seen by other people, whether it’s one or one million, is NOT a valid enticement. Neither is the right to add that work to their “portfolio”. They get to do those things ANYWAY, after being paid as they should. It’s not compensation. It’s their right, and it’s a given.

4. Stop thinking that you’re giving them some great chance to work. Once they skip over your silly ad, as they should, the next ad is usually for someone who lives in the real world, and as such, will pay them. There are far more jobs needing these skills than there are people who possess these skills.

5. Students DO need “experience”. But they do NOT need to get it by giving their work away. In fact, this does not even offer them the experience they need. Anyone who will not/can not pay them is obviously the type of person or business they should be ashamed to have on their resume anyway. Do you think professional contractors list the “experience” they got while nailing down a loose step at their grandmother’s house when they were seventeen?

If you your company or gig was worth listing as desired experience, it would be able to pay for the services it received. The only experience they will get doing free work for you is a lesson learned in what kinds of scrubs they should not lower themselves to deal with.

6. (This one is FOR the artists out there, please pay attention.) Some will ask you to “submit work for consideration”. They may even be posing as some sort of “contest”. These are almost always scams. They will take the work submitted by many artists seeking to win the “contest”, or be “chosen” for the gig, and find what they like most. They will then usually have someone who works for them, or someone who works incredibly cheap because they have no originality or talent of their own, reproduce that same work, or even just make slight modifications to it, and claim it as their own. You will NOT be paid, you will NOT win the contest. The only people who win, here, are the underhanded folks who run these ads. This is speculative, or “spec”, work. It’s risky at best, and a complete scam at worst. I urge you to avoid it, completely. For more information on this subject, please visit www.no-spec.com.

So to artists/designers/illustrators looking for work, do everyone a favor, ESPECIALLY yourselves, and avoid people who do not intend to pay you. Whether they are “spec” gigs, or just some guy who wants a free mural on his living room walls. They need you. You do NOT need them.

And for those who are looking for someone to do work for free… please wake up and join the real world. The only thing you’re accomplishing is to insult those with the skills you need. Get a clue.

grabeh!

im surprised that they're goin to make this on film
the most awesome, inspiring, controversial, unique
and amazing graphic novel i've ever read...

at alam mo. Parang ordinary life that happens to this
super heroes merong conspiracy, affairs, at mga
traitors among their groups, retirement,
and the best part are those cliff-hangers that Alan Moore
put in this amazing story he created..

one of my favorite character is Rorschach (uh, yeah
that's right his name is difficult to pronounce when reading it.
im not sure if its pronounce like this "rawr-shak")

grabe tong character na to... malufet at astig
walang sinabi si batman dito. new perspective
of super hero character na you could see in real world
he is a psychopath vigilante who hunts criminals.

imagine : hahawakan kamay mo. may itatanong siya sayo.
( parang detective sha and he'll make sure he gets the
information he wants! ) at tumanggi ka or nag kaila.
tapos hahawakan nya ung hinliliit mong daliri.
sabay.......

BRAAAK!!!

makakarinig ka bulahaw na iyak!

astig di ba!

my well kept treasures..
i would like to hang this on our wall
but it doesnt feel right.. coz we dont
have those well furnished wall in our
rented apartment. (im thinkin right now
if im going to sell this. hmmm...?)

i really like the style of the person
who made this which luckily made us
friend because of our common faith..
it inspires me a lot kahit sa tingin ng
sa bawat obra niya! it always evolve..

well im just posting this to tell him that
this is well appreciated, kasi binigay nya
eto sa akin. hehehe

i hope he could tell me the title of this
both amazing works.

thanks brow!

together with our team we visited Blue Onion Eastwood city to check the place make some draft study for how we'll set the backdrop for the performance of the band Hammilan. Im with the ace players of our team.. our most trusted buddies eman, omar, froi, maan, joanne and boss adam.

thank God for the opportunity that He gave us for this kind of event for the strength we need for the one whole day pre-production.. (sounds like im in a beauty contest) anyway, though we're exhausted that night, we still enjoy watching the performance of Hammilan.. they put a projector outside the bar.. a lot of people were caught attention.. because of the outstanding voice of Hammilan and those up-beat music of his bandmates...

my fave part is when he sings the "gandang kupas".. listening to his voice will make your jaw drop. after he did those dances and jumping around the place, still he got the energy and the voice to sing that song. im with full amazement for their performance.

they really Rocks!

(then we packed-up after that.) sounds annoying isnt it? or should i say wrapped-up.

an energetic and with a hyper- active dance whenever he sings those up-beat music of his. Lyrics that may sound weird but it will take you deep to its full definitions.

And yes! i got my own copy of their album "diskarte".

Hammilan's band are very interesting to work with..they all supports the  institution that helps people and the environment like PDEA, Greenpeace, Phil. Red Cross and other Charity
Foundations.

This Band Rocks!!!

Purchasing one copy is llike helping those people who are less fortunate in our country.

Cassy.

She doesn’t talk that much when we approaches her and try to make a small conversation.
She is too shy or is it just the toothpaste that I’ve used.
The cute and adorable little Cassy that sits beside me is the daughter of Zoren Legaspi. If you’re familiar with the advertisement… a scene with two kids playing around with their breath and their mom which is Carmina entered the bathroom to join them. That’s the Colgate TV ad. We didn’t expect Zoren will bring her along that evening.

We had a dinner meeting about some illustration projects that Zoren discuss to us. I’m with my illustrator friends to absorbs some of the details for the project and before we even start the meeting Zoren treat us all in Burgoo restaurant at Podium. The food was great. By the way, I’m not in the proper time or mood in organizing what am I writing right now coz there are lot of things that I should do first or think. So please bear with me if some of what I’m saying is doesn’t make any sense. hehehe this is just a quick free-writing for me.. Anything goes.

Going back to the restaurant, we really do enjoy working to each other. Sharing thoughts and nailing down some of the ideas flying around in our minds. Throwing suggestions and pointing important matters. Others put in other way of bringing ideas by making himself a storyteller. At the same time we doodle on the table. Instead of having a table cloth, the restaurant uses recycled paper. Funny thing is that Cassy always say “What the Heck!” whenever she sees a nice drawings made by my friends. Specially the Naruto character drawings.

So this is it. A short update for this Blog section. We all hope for the success of this project.

Thanks be to God.
Until next time.

ilang pigil hininga at buntong hininga

"kelan? anong oras?"

madaming pede iupdate dito kaso wala time na minsan
matutulala nanaman ako. tatahimik at may kakausapin
makikipag palitan ako ng mga kahilingan
maglalambing at
magpapasalamat

marami sana akong ilalagay na details about her
